On-site gas generation is becoming the default fallback for datacenter developers who can't wait out a multi-year interconnection queue.

Turbine order backlogs at major manufacturers, per S&P Global, are increasingly dominated by datacenter developers rather than traditional utility customers.

The tradeoff is real: behind-the-meter generation sidesteps the queue but shifts emissions accounting and permitting risk onto the developer directly.
